Full course description
Creating truly effective learning experiences means ensuring every student can access, engage with, and succeed in your course. In this self-paced online course, participants will gain practical skills to identify and correct common accessibility issues in digital course materials while learning how accessibility principles enhance learning for all students. Participants will explore foundational strategies for designing content that supports all learners, particularly those with disabilities, and meets federal accessibility guidelines and best practices in higher education.
The first two modules cover basic topics and concepts pertaining to digital accessibility. The third module introduces two powerful tools integrated into Canvas: TidyUP, which helps clean up and organize course files, and UDOIT (Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool), which scans course content for accessibility issues and offers actionable feedback. Faculty will learn how to use these tools to streamline content management and improve course accessibility efficiently, making inclusive design a natural part of your workflow rather than an afterthought
